The NCSGNA Annual Fall Conference at the John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, CA, is designed to enhance gastroenterology nurses' and associates' knowledge and skills. This comprehensive event features expert-led sessions on the latest concepts, techniques, and clinical approaches in gastrointestinal care. Attendees will benefit from presentations on a variety of topics, including:

  • Endoscopic Ultrasound
  • IBS and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
  • Esophageal Motility
  • Microbial Biotherapeutics
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
  • Diagnostic Work-up and Management of Bloating
  • Endoscopic Resections

Doors will open at 7:00 AM for registration, vendor exhibits, and networking opportunities.  Attendees can enjoy a continental breakfast in the morning, and a lunch will be provided during the event.

ABCGN Statement
Attendees will be eligible to earn seven (7) GI-specific contact hours approved by the American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN), pending.

Cancellation Policy

Kanwar Gill MD

Gastroenterologist

Dr. Kanwar Gill is a distinguished gastroenterologist at John Muir Health, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive system disorders. He completed his medical education at Government Medical College and furthered his training with an internship and residency at California Pacific Medical Center, followed by a fellowship at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. Dr. Gill is board-certified by the American Board of IM/Gastroenterology and is proficient in English, Hindi, and Punjabi. His clinical interests include pancreatic disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and liver cirrhosis management, among others. Dr. Gill is affiliated with Concord Medical Center and Walnut Creek Medical Center, and he is dedicated to providing comprehensive care to his patients.

Leila Neshatian
Leila Neshatian Gastroenterologist

Clinical Associate Professor, Medicine - Gastroenterology & Hepatology

Dr. Leila Neshatian is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine specializing in Gastroenterology. She has a clinical focus on neurogastroenterology, motility, pelvic floor disorders, and benign anorectal disorders. At Stanford, Dr. Neshatian serves as the GI Program Director for the Neuro-Gastroenterology Fellowship and directs the Neuro-Gastroenterology and Motility and Pelvic Health Center programs. She is actively involved in several professional organizations, holding roles such as Co-Chair of the ROME Anorectal Biofeedback Section and Councillor for the AGA Institute Council's Neuro-Gastroenterology and Motility section. Her extensive education includes a fellowship at Mayo Clinic and a residency at Einstein College of Medicine.

Catherine Tambunan

Advanced Practice Provider

Catherine Tambunan, APRN, MSN, FNP-C, is an advanced practice provider at the Stanford Multidisciplinary Pelvic Health Center, where she specializes in gynecology, urology, gastroenterology, colorectal surgery, and pelvic reconstructive surgery. With over a decade of nursing experience, Catherine has served in various capacities, including critical care and neurology. She holds an MSN from Azusa Pacific University and has been recognized for her contributions to patient care and clinical excellence.

John Clarke
John Clarke MD

Clinical Professor, Medicine-Gastroenterology & Hepatology
Director, Esophageal Program, Stanford Medicine

Dr. John Clarke joined Stanford University as the Director of the Esophageal Program in the Gastroenterology & Hepatology Division in 2016. He spent 17 years at Johns Hopkins University, where he held various leadership roles and developed expertise in achalasia, dysphagia, eosinophilic esophagitis, and other GI motility disorders. Dr. Clarke is recognized for his contributions to clinical excellence, having been inducted into The Miller-Coulson Academy for Clinical Excellence and awarded for his teaching. He has lectured internationally, authored numerous textbook chapters, and serves on the educational affairs committee of the American College of Gastroenterology. His research focuses on optimizing diagnostic studies and therapeutic techniques for motility disorders.

Ronald Hsu
Ronald Hsu MD, FACG

Governor for Northern California, American College of Gastroenterology
Clinical Professor, Department of Medicine

Dr. Ronald Hsu is a gastroenterologist and advanced therapeutic endoscopist with expertise in endoscopic eradication therapy for Barrett’s esophagus, dysplasia, and other gastrointestinal conditions. He has a strong clinical focus on managing inflammatory bowel disease, gut microbiome health, Clostridioides difficile infections, and the prevention of colorectal cancer. Dr. Hsu is actively involved in research, particularly in the use of fecal microbiota transplantation, and participates in multiple clinical trials for gastrointestinal diseases. He also directs educational conferences and community outreach programs.

Catherine Rongey
Catherine Rongey MD

Gastroenterologist

Dr. Catherine Rongey joined Kaiser Permanente in 2016 with over a decade of experience in challenging healthcare settings, focusing on integrating mental health and integrative therapies into gastroenterology care. She has reviewed for multiple prestigious medical journals and serves on the Kaiser Northern California IBD Group. Dr. Rongey is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Gastroenterology Association and the Northern California Gastroenterology Association. Outside of work, she enjoys baking, gardening, hiking, watching comedy, and spending time with her family in the Bay Area, where she has lived since 2009.

Zoe Memel
Zoe Memel MD

Gastroenterology Fellow

Dr. Zoe Memel is a dedicated medical professional hailing from Los Angeles, California. She completed her undergraduate studies at Cornell University and earned her medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Dr. Memel pursued her residency at MGH, where she developed a keen interest in liver and general gastroenterology, with a particular focus on nutrition-GI. Her research interests include NAFLD, nutrition and GI, and NAFLD transplant outcomes. Dr. Memel chose UCSF for her fellowship due to its diverse patient population, excellent clinical training opportunities, and its location in a vibrant, family-friendly city. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, hiking, watching television, and running with her dog, Rory.

Mike Wei
Mike Wei MD

Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Gastroenterology & Hepatology

Dr. Mike Tzuhen Wei, originally from Taipei, Taiwan, completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford and earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College. He returned to Stanford for his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology. Dr. Wei specializes in colorectal cancer and Barrett’s esophagus surveillance, reflux diagnosis, and endoscopic resection of large polyps. His research focuses on new technologies in gastrointestinal cancer management, and he has published extensively in leading medical journals. Outside of his clinical and research work, Dr. Wei enjoys traveling and exploring new restaurants with his family.
